Increased demand of live goats and goat products like meat, milk and religious sacrifice provides an ideal opportunity for commercial goat farming. Commercial goat farming works on two major principles

    1. Efficient use of resources and help goats to produce maximum
      productivity under ideal nutrition and management
    2. Ensure in bulk and quality goat/buck supply with targeted
      seasonal high price market to get increased margin and profits.

To achieve such objectives, blending of appropriate management, technology and market with sound scientific basis and skills are required. However such management requires in depth and practical understanding of technology, market, along with reflective learning from one’s own experiences under guidance of professionals. As practical knowledge on goat farming and linkages for quality goats, tools, vaccines and medicines had been a critical constraint for growth of goat farm as enterprise, The Goat Trust had regularly organized such training since last few years with below mentioned objectives

      housing management
    2. To help participants in understanding existing goat market structure
      and develop innovative goat marketing strategy
    3. To share reasons of success and failure of goat as commercial goat
      enterprise and develop a clear cut perspectives on opportunities and
      challenges
    4. To support in developing business plan and action plan
