SUMMARY:CSA Seminar on Transforming Indian Agriculture on 27th March 2025 at CESS Hyderabad
DESCRIPTION:Description\nAgriculture has always been a cornerstone of Indian society and economy; and continues to support about half of our working population. However\, in recent times\, we have been facing a prolonged agrarian crisis\, made worse by phenomena such as the Covid pandemic\, global conflicts and the relentless onslaught of climate change. This calls for a significant reshaping of our agri-food systems towards sustainable alternatives such as agroecology. Agroecological models are sustainable\, equitable and more resilient towards external factors. However\, scaling them remains challenging due to policy\, market\, technological and social barriers.  \nAt CSA\, we have been working with farmers and local governments in Andhra Pradesh\, Telangana\, Maharashtra\, and Chhattisgarh to promote agroecological practices for over 20 years. We want to understand what needs to be done to overcome these barriers and facilitate large-scale\, sustainable transitions. \nJoin us at our seminar as we bring together researchers\, practitioners and policymakers to explore viable pathways for agroecological transitions in India. Let’s collaborate to transform India’s food systems for a sustainable future! \nOther details about the event: Seminar on Agroecological Transitions in India_Concept Note\nMandatory Registration\nRegistration Link: Click this link to register yourself for the event. \nSpeakers for the Event are:\n\nSubhash Sharma\, Padma Shri\, Organic Farmer from Yavatmal\, Maharashtra\nLindsay M Jaacks\, Personal Chair of Global Health and Nutrition\, University of Edinburgh\nDevinder Sharma\, Award-winning food and trade policy analyst\nGV Ramanjaneyulu\, Executive Director\, Centre for Sustainable Agriculture (CSA) and Krishna Sudha Academy for Agroecology (KSA)\n\nVenue: Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS)\, Begumpet\, Hyderabad\, 500016\n
