SCALAGRO Writeshop Scientific Report_SJ

This report captures the findings and recommendations from a structured participatory writeshop held at the Deccan Development Society’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Zaheerabad, in February 2026. Bringing together eleven specialists across agronomy, animal husbandry, community facilitation, and farmer practice. The proceedings highlight community-validated governance models, livelihood pathways for women and youth, and actionable recommendations for scaling agroecological transition in semi-arid Telangana.

SCALAGRO Secondary Data Analysis for Writeshop_SJ

This report synthesises evidence from over 47 published sources to build the scientific and policy case for two agroecological interventions: community-managed Bio-input Resource Centres (BRCs) and indigenous backyard poultry systems in Telangana. It documents the severity of agrochemical dependency among Telangana’s 5.94 million smallholder farms, draws on landmark research from Andhra Pradesh’s natural farming programme, and maps the government investment landscape under the National Mission on Natural Farming. The analysis provides a rigorous evidence base showing that both interventions are proven, timely, and ready for structured pilot implementation under the SCALAGRO project.

AB1_BRC_Bio-input_Resource_Centres

This action brief explains how community-based Bio-input Resource Centres produce biofertilisers and biopesticides locally, helping farmers reduce chemical input costs, improve soil health, and build sustainable agroecological systems.

AB2_Indigenous_Poultry_Systems

This Action brief describes a community-led poultry model using indigenous breeds to improve household nutrition, generate income, and empower women through low-cost, scalable backyard poultry systems.

AB3_Large_Livestock_Support

This Action brief highlights how livestock (cattle, buffalo, goats) strengthen agroecological farming by providing manure, income, and nutritional security, supported through a community-based co-investment and revolving fund model.

SCALAGRO Research Brief

This research brief provides research-based insights into farmer practices, systemic barriers, and policy recommendations for scaling agroecology, based on multi-stakeholder studies across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Coffee Table Book 26

This Coffee table book presents real-life stories of farmers transitioning from chemical to natural farming, showcasing reduced costs, improved soil health, and the lived challenges and successes of agroecological practices.
