Job Summary:
The Field Coordinator will lead the implementation of community-based nutrition and food security initiatives through the establishment of Nutri-Gardens, backyard poultry units, and biodiversity conservation blocks. The role involves conducting need assessments, ensuring quality sourcing and distribution of agricultural inputs, and providing continuous on-ground support to Community Resource Persons (CRPs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and farmers.
The position requires strong coordination with community institutions and government line departments to leverage existing schemes and strengthen convergence efforts. The Field Coordinator will monitor field activities, ensure timely achievement of targets, facilitate capacity-building programs, document best practices, and submit regular progress reports to ensure effective project delivery and measurable impact on household nutrition and livelihoods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the establishment and monitoring of Nutri-Gardens and backyard poultry units to enhance household food security.
- Conduct comprehensive need assessments to identify requirements for saplings and seeds. Manage quality assurance, sourcing, and the distribution of saplings.
- Establish and manage biodiversity blocks dedicated to local seed conservation and the preservation of indigenous crops.
- Ensure all planned field activities are completed on schedule and meet organizational standards.
- Work closely with community cadres, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and local governance to drive nutrition initiatives for combating malunion.
- Act as a liaison with relevant government line departments to leverage existing schemes and resources.
- Provide direct, “on-the-ground” handholding support to Community Resource Persons (CRPs) to ensure effective project delivery.
- Organize and facilitate training programs for SHGs, farmers, and community cadres on nutrition-sensitive agricultural practices.
- Conduct a minimum of field visits per month to monitor progress & troubleshoot issues.
- Prepare and submit detailed monthly progress reports (MPRs) against set targets.
- Document best practices, field learnings, and “success stories” to showcase project impact.
- Undertake any additional tasks as assigned by the organization to support overall project goals.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Rural Development, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in community-based agriculture, nutrition, or livelihood programs.
- Strong knowledge of nutrition-sensitive agriculture, seed conservation, and backyard poultry management.
- Experience working with SHGs, community institutions, and government line departments.
- Proven skills in field implementation, capacity building, and community mobilization.
- Ability to conduct need assessments, manage input distribution, and ensure quality standards.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and MS Office skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively and conduct regular field visits.
- Good communication skills in local language(s) and ability to work in rural settings.
