Job Notification: Programme Officer – Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (1 Position)
Location: Nizamabad, Telangana

About Us:
The Centre for Sustainable Agriculture (CSA) (https://csa-india.org/ ) was established in 2004 with the goal of promoting sustainable food systems that are ecologically, economically, and socially viable. CSA implemented experimental approaches, including innovative practices, processes, and institutions, to build resilience against climate and market risks for farmer households and the primary work of CSA is spread across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states.
Roles and Responsibilities
•Support CSA in achieving overall project objectives and deliverables through timely analytical, documentation, and reporting inputs.
•Lead Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) activities, including indicators, ensuring data consistency and quality, and contributing to emissions, climate, and sustainability reporting frameworks.
•Design and manage field-level data systems, including development of baseline, mid-season, and end-line survey tools; providing technical guidance to field teams; and cleaning, structuring, and managing multi-season (longitudinal) farmer datasets.
•Support and oversee primary data collection carried out by field teams, including coordination on fieldwork, interviews, and surveys, and ensuring adherence to data protocols and quality standards.
•Conduct descriptive and comparative statistical analysis, including calculation and interpretation of key metrics, trend analysis across seasons, and comparison of outcomes across treatments (e.g., regenerative vs conventional practices).
•Analyse and interpret agronomic and environmental performance indicators, including greenhouse gas emissions (CO₂e), nitrogen use efficiency (NUE), irrigation water use, yield stability, and pest incidence.
•Use and interpret climate and farm-level assessment tools (e.g., Cool Farm Tool), translating technical outputs into clear tables, visuals, and concise analytical narratives for reporting and decision-making.
•Conduct desk reviews of relevant literature, policies, research studies, and project reports to inform project design, analysis, and recommendations.
•Contribute to the preparation of project reports, case studies, policy briefs, presentations, and other knowledge and dissemination materials.
•Provide regular progress updates and report to the Project Head
•Undertake additional tasks and analytical responsibilities assigned by the organisation in line with project needs.
•Familiarity with agricultural climate accounting, including IPCC Tier 1/Tier 2 methodologies, emission factors, methane–nitrous oxide trade-offs, and agricultural or supply-chain carbon footprinting will be an added advantage.
Qualifications & Skills required
•Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in research, agriculture, rural development, climate, sustainability, or allied development sectors.
•Postgraduate degree in Agriculture, Development Studies, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline.
•Demonstrated experience in applied research, monitoring & evaluation, or data-driven programme analysis.
•Strong quantitative and/or mixed-methods research skills, with ability to analyse and interpret field-level and project data.
•Advanced proficiency in MS Excel / Google Sheets for data cleaning, analysis, and reporting.
•Experience with survey design and management tools such as ODK, Kobo, or Google Forms.
•Working knowledge of basic statistical analysis using tools such as Excel, SPSS, or R (basic level).
•Ability to translate analytical results into clear written outputs, including reports, tables, charts, and summaries.
•Good written and oral communication skills in English; knowledge of Telugu is an added advantage.
•Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with field teams and programme staff.
•Willingness to travel to project locations and engage with CSA field teams.
•Familiarity with climate and farm-level assessment tools such as the Cool Farm Tool (CFT) or similar carbon accounting tools.
•Experience with data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau) for presenting insights is an advantage.
•Basic exposure to R or Python for data analysis is desirable but not mandatory.
•Familiarity with GIS tools (QGIS) for spatial analysis is an added advantage.
